If we do nothing else to take care of our legal affairs, we should write a living trust. If you die without a trust, you will still have someone make your decisions (Definitely not whom you would have chose). Unfortunately, state law will determine who gets your property and a judge may decide who will raise your children. In your trust, you can make these appoint who will make these decisions yourself. Most people can get by with only a basic trust.
